When it’s time to navigate or draft an Aircraft Purchase Agreement, attention to detail is key. Kerry stands ready to help clients navigate these highly technical transactions, making herself available to clients across international time zones. Clients return to her time and again because she knows how to get the deal done, and they appreciate her focused, “all in” approach to managing and protecting their aviation interests, while keeping their business and financial goals at the forefront.
When a client faces a dispute, whether related to aircraft ownership or a deal gone awry, Kerry relies on decades of industry knowledge to skillfully identify the strengths and weaknesses of each parties’ position and to look for practical solutions or early resolution whenever possible. An experienced trial attorney, she won’t shy away from taking a dispute to the courtroom to protect a client’s interests, but also knows when settlement is preferred. She has handled numerous disputes arising from aircraft purchases, including multimillion-dollar escrow disputes; international contracts; regulatory and compliance issues; tax-related issues; and all aspects related to business aircraft use, maintenance, ownership and operational matters. She has also successfully recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in broker commissions that went wrongfully unpaid and millions of dollars in escrow funds owed her clients.
Aviation Business Transactions
Kerry adeptly guides clients through aviation transactions from start to finish. She frequently represents clients in multimillion-dollar aircraft purchase transactions, many of which involve cross-border parties and always include regulatory and tax aspects to the transaction. Her practice includes negotiating and drafting Aircraft Purchase Agreements, which are not run-of-the-mill real estate transactions. Carefully analyzing the technical requirements related to ownership, international regulations and end use of the aircraft, she helps clients record security interests via country-specific registries or the International Registry (IR) and analyzes tax issues for end use of the aircraft.
Kerry has a degree in Spanish from the University of Texas and studied abroad in Spain at various times throughout her academic career. A significant part of her work is with Spanish-speaking clients. Fluent in Spanish, both verbal and written, she often reviews, analyzes and drafts documents in Spanish.
