Attorney Cheryl P. Leb has joined Bell Nunnally as partner and member of its Intellectual Property practice. She comes to the firm from Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP in Fort Worth where she was chair of the Intellectual Property section.
“Cheryl is a welcome addition to our active IP practice,” said Managing Partner Christopher B. Trowbridge. “She is well-versed in the issues we handle for clients on a routine basis – from strategic IP protection to licensing and USPTO proceedings. She will no doubt thrive in our collegial, client-centric culture.”
Leb’s practice focuses on protecting and managing intellectual property for domestic and international clients, including prominent consumer brands, authors, publishers and nonprofit organizations. She handles copyright and trademark registrations, negotiates software licenses, manufacturing and distribution agreements, and facilitates licensing and commercial transactions involving intellectual property rights.
Leb regularly submits applications to the U.S. Copyright Office and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and represents clients in Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy proceedings. She also advises on multinational brand expansions and negotiates agreements covering technology and service contracts, copyright and trademark licenses, strategic alliances and publishing arrangements.
With more than 25 years’ experience, Leb has assisted clients on numerous notable matters, including representing the heirs to the estate of the legendary golfer Ben Hogan in the licensing of publicity rights and the publishing of his well-known book Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf. Leb has also coordinated the expansion and management of trademark portfolios for many internationally known brands.
Leb is a graduate of SMU’s Dedman School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1998) and Florida State University (B.S., magna cum laude, 1995).
A “Top Attorney” featured in both Fort Worth Magazine and 360 West magazine, Leb has also been recognized in the “40 Under 40” list by Fort Worth Business Press and in the “Rising Stars” feature in Texas Monthly.
