Bell Nunnally partners Karen L. Hart and Joshua T. Smith and Associate Audrey G. McClure have been honored to recently assist the Aldrin Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded and led by the family of Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The foundation’s mission is to bring the joy of space into classrooms and inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators and explorers through hands-on STEAM education, including science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The organization develops immersive, standards-aligned curriculum and educational tools serving students and educators worldwide.
The foundation recently secured a $4.7 million grant from the Texas Space Commission for its initiatives, namely the Student Satellites in Space, or S-Cubed, program. Developed in partnership with Twiggs Space Lab and supported by professional development efforts from the University of Texas, the S-Cubed program engages Texas high school students in satellite design, construction and testing as part of a multiyear aerospace education experience. The project is designed to span the academic year and challenge students to determine which satellite kit advances toward space deployment, integrating real-world engineering, data analysis and teamwork.
Bell Nunnally has supported the foundation’s implementation of its initiatives related to this significant grant and cutting-edge STEM programming. The firm is proud to partner with the Aldrin Family Foundation in supporting innovative educational programs and advancing opportunities for youth in STEM fields.
