This executive order seeks to: (1) increase the production of America’s fossil fuel production and other natural resources, including coal, hydropower, biofuels, and critical mineral and nuclear energy resources; and (2) open federal lands to energy and mineral exploration and production in order to provide reliable energy to the country. It also seeks to remove previous regulatory restrictions upon the exploration for and production of energy and revokes previous executive orders, including those related to climate change that had the effect of limiting production and/or use of fossil fuels and other natural resources. Finally, it pauses disbursement of funds appropriated through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, such as monies for electric vehicle charging stations.
This executive order has been challenged in court.
