The stated purpose of this executive order is to modernize federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity. The United States Digital Service is renamed as the United States DOGE Service (USDS). It establishes that there will be a USDS Administrator in the executive office of the president. It also establishes a U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization, which is to be dedicated to advance the president’s 18-month DOGE agenda. Each agency shall establish a DOGE team, and the USDS Administrator shall commence a software modernization initiative to improve the quality and efficiency of government-wide software, network, infrastructure and information technology systems. Finally, agency heads are directed to ensure USDS has full access to all classified agency records, software and IT systems; and the USDS is directed to adhere to rigorous data protection standards.
