This executive order undertakes to reverse [Former President] Biden’s open border policies by establishing a physical wall and other barriers; deterring and preventing entry of illegal aliens into the country; detaining aliens apprehended on suspicion of violating federal or state law; removing all aliens who enter or remain in violation of federal law; pursuing criminal charges against illegal aliens who violate the immigration laws and those who facilitate their unlawful presence in the United States; cooperating fully with state and local law-enforcement officials in enacting federal-state partnerships to enforce federal immigration laws; obtaining complete operational control of the United States borders; and terminating parole programs.
The order also ceased the CBP One application as a method of paroling or facilitating the entry of otherwise inadmissible aliens into the United States. The CBP was a mobile application that allowed immigrants without entry documents to schedule appointments for processing and be eligible for asylum pending processing.
The order also terminated a program known as “Process for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans,” which allowed approved persons to stay in the country up to two years and obtain work permits.
This executive order has been challenged in several federal courts.
