The purpose of this order is to address the influx of illicit opiate and other drugs into the United States from Mexico. The order finds that the opioids and other drugs endanger lives and constitute a threat to public health in the United States. In an effort to induce Mexico to stem the flow of illicit drugs into the United States from Mexico, this order imposes an additional 25% tariff on goods imported into the United States from Mexico.
