The purpose of this order is to address childhood chronic disease in the United States. It provides that: (a) all federally funded research should be based on a gold standard; (b) federal agencies should work with farmers to ensure that U.S. food is healthy and abundant; and (c) federal agencies should ensure the availability of expanded treatment options and flexibility for health care insurance coverage to provide benefits that support beneficial lifestyle changes, and disease prevention. The order establishes a Make America Healthy Again Commission and that its initial mission should be fighting childhood chronic disease which includes studying the scope of childhood chronic disease and its causes and making a recommendation on policy and strategy for addressing the issue. Within 180 days of the date of the order, the commission is to submit to the president a strategy for restructuring the federal government’s response to childhood chronic disease.
