The purpose of this executive order is to ensure the rapid development, deployment and use of advanced nuclear technologies to support national security objectives including artificial intelligence. It directs (a) the U.S. Army to establish a program to operate a nuclear reactor at a domestic military base by September 30, 2028; (b) the Department of Energy to designate one or more sites for deployment of advanced reactors with a goal of operating a reactor no later than 30 months from May 23, 2025; and (c) the State Department and Treasury Department to pursue agreements to facilitate peaceful nuclear cooperation, implement a program to support access to U.S. financial markets and technical assistance for U.S. nuclear exports, and implement a program to compete for global nuclear energy projects.
