This executive order is aimed at use of drones by criminals and hostile foreign actors. It mandates the creation of a task force to develop and propose solutions to drone threats. It directs the Administrator of the FAA to write rules establishing a statutorily required process for restriction of drone flights over fixed site facilities. It also directs (a) the attorney general to fully enforce civil and criminal laws against drone operators who endanger the public, violate established airspace restrictions or operate drones in furtherance of a crime and (b) the administrator of the FAA and the secretary of Homeland Security to publish guidance to aid private infrastructure owners and operators in employing technologies to detect, track, and identify drones and drone signals.
