This executive order is aimed at taking steps on the federal and state level to prevent and more effectively fight wildfires. It directs the Department of the Interior and Department of Agriculture to: (a) consolidate federal wildland fire programs to achieve the most efficient and effective use of wildland fire offices; (b) expand and strengthen the use of partnerships and agreements that empower federal, state and local government to reduce wildfire risk and improve wildfire response; (c) develop a comprehensive technology to increase wildfire fighting capabilities at state and local levels, including using artificial intelligence, data sharing and mapping capabilities. It also directs the EPA and the secretary of agriculture to remove outdated regulations that prohibit use of preventative fires and fire retardants to fight wildfires and to promote the use of woody biomass and other forest byproducts to lower the risk of wildfire. Finally, it instructs the secretary of defense to evaluate and prioritize the sale of excess aircraft and aircraft parts to support wildfire mitigation and response.
