The stated purpose of this executive order is to eliminate subsidized energy sources, such as wind and solar, because they displace reliable domestic energy sources, compromise the electric grid and threaten national security by making the United States dependent upon a supply chain controlled by foreign adversaries. Within 45 days following the enactment of the One Big Beautiful Bill act the secretary of the treasury is to enforce the termination of the clean electricity production and investment tax credits under the Internal Revenue Code for wind and solar facilities. The secretary of the interior is directed to review regulations, guidance, policies and practices to determine whether any provide preferential treatment to wind and solar facilities, and then to revise them to eliminate such preferences.
This executive order could significantly impact renewable energy in the United States and therefore prompt litigation.
