The purpose of this executive order is to facilitate the construction of more artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and the infrastructure that powers them. A new facility is required to have greater than 100 MW of new load dedicated to AI inference, training, simulation or synthetic data generation, and a project must have a sponsor that has committed at least $500 million in capital expenditures. The order directs the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to expedite permitting and allows data centers to be built upon federal land.
