This executive order abolished the de minimis tariff exemption for all low value imports (less than or equal to $800) starting Aug. 29, 2025. The duties to be charged are as follows: either: (1) the duty equal to the effective IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act) tariff rate applicable to the country of origin on the value of each dutiable postal item (package) containing goods entered for consumption; or (2) a specific duty on each package containing goods entered for consumption based upon the effective IEEPA tariff applicable to the country of origin of the product as follows: (a) $80 per item for countries with an effective IEEPA tariff rate of less than 16%; (b) $160 per item for countries with an effective IEEPA tariff rate between 16 and 25%; and (c) $200 per item for countries with an effective IEEPA rate above 25%. The second methodology is only available for six months. Afterwards, the first methodology will be utilized.
