Event Details:
Senior Associate Saba Syed is moderating “Voting in Texas During the Pandemic and Beyond” for the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.
Date/Time:
Tuesday, April 27, 2021
12:00 – 1:00 PM
Overview:
Voting during a pandemic presented unique challenges. Harris County official, Chris Hollins, attempted to provide various ways for citizens to safely exercise their right to vote. Days before the election, thousands of legally cast ballots were at risk of being disenfranchised in the courts, and Judge Ravi Sandhill heard one of those cases. Now, the Texas legislature is discussing revised voting requirements. In this timely panel, Judge Sandhill, Chris Hollins, Punam Kaji and Saba Syed will discuss the events that transpired last year and how voting in Texas may change in the future.
