Bell Nunnally attorneys Saba Syed, Christian J. Cowart and Nathan Cox have been named to D Magazine’s 2025 “Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas” list, highlighting the city’s “up-and-coming” attorneys.

D Magazine compiles the “Best Lawyers Under 40” list by asking lawyers to nominate up to two lawyers outside their firm and one within their firm, keeping this question in mind: “Which lawyers under 40, of those whose work you have witnessed firsthand, would you rank among the current best?” Answers may include co-counsel, lawyers they have observed in court and opposing counsel.

Syed, a partner, is a skilled litigator who routinely represents companies and high-net-worth individuals in complex commercial litigation involving renewable energy construction disputes, contract disputes, business torts and partnership disputes. She has worked across a range of industries, including energy, manufacturing, real estate and finance.

Syed’s recent accolades include being named to the “40 & Under” list in the Benchmark Litigation Guide (2025) and to Lawdragon’s “2024 Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation” list. She was also selected for Texas Lawyer‘s 2024 Texas Legal Awards “On the Rise” list. In 2023, Syed was featured on the Dallas Business Journal‘s “40 Under 40” list and D Magazine‘s “Best Lawyers Under 40 in Dallas” list. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers, appearing on the “Up-and-Coming 100: Texas Rising Stars” and “Up-and-Coming 50 Women: Texas Rising Stars” lists in 2023. Additionally, she received the Dallas Bar Association’s “Outstanding Minority Attorney Award” in 2019. Syed earned her J.D., cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law in 2013, and her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009.

Cowart serves as senior counsel at Bell Nunnally, involved with litigation and intellectual property matters. He works to help clients grow their businesses by protecting their intellectual property rights, including trademarks, patents and copyrights. Cowart has represented both large and small companies in cases involving securities fraud, trade secret theft, employment discrimination and business ownership disputes.

Cowart was recently recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® “Ones to Watch” list (2025) and was selected by his peers for inclusion in Super Lawyers’ “Texas Rising Stars” by Thomson Reuters (2022-2024). He is a graduate of Baylor University School of Law (J.D., 2017) and Oklahoma State University (B.A., 2014).

Cox is a senior associate at Bell Nunnally with a focus on litigation, labor and employment, and intellectual property law. He represents individuals and businesses in complex commercial and intellectual property disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, misappropriation of trade secrets, and trademark and patent infringement. Cox also defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation in both state and federal courts, as well as before agencies such as the Texas Workforce Commission and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
